Location/Directions

We've been told that people are having a hard time finding us so I'll try and clarify. Our address is 2208 Primrose Ave, Building K. Our phone number is 956-687-7391. The store is directly behind the Bargain Bazaar on 23rd St.

If you are coming from Edinburg driving south on 23rd Street. You will pass Trenton and Dove (it's 5 streets down from Dove). Now you either turn left into the Bazaar's driveway and continue to the strip "mall" in the back or you may turn left at the lights at Primrose Ave. If you take the second option turn left into the second driveway and drive toward the Bazaar's back end.

From Harlingen or cities in the direction, take the 83 Highway West and take the 23rd St exit. Keep driving north and it's the next lights after Nolana. Same thing either drive past and turn into the Bazaar's driveway or turn right at the lights then a left into the second drive way.

At the bottom of the home page of this blog there is a map to refer to as well.

Beginning Sewing Class

Ruth is looking for students interested in her Beginning Sewing class. If you or someone you know has been talking about learning to sew this is the class for you.

Serger Classes

Yvonne Hylander has let us know she has completed the Serger Licencing from Martha Pullen and has 22 different project sheets from the week long session. So if there's any technique you've been wanting to learn send us a list and we can schedule classes. Also include which day of the week you're available as well as the time. Examples of classes are: Heirloom quilts, baby items (quilt, night gown, booties), beginner serging, lace blouse, etc. I'd like to do a beginner's class on a Wednesday or Friday so I hope others will put down those days!

The basic fee is a steal at $20 for a day class. Class size will be 2-5 students.

This is very exciting and I know we'll get a great response.

Calendar

I've added our yahoo calendar to the links area. It's a little sparce right now but as we add classes you'll be able to see more. When you click on the link you'll come to a web page with tabs above the current month (tabs = day, week, month, year, event lists and tasks). To get a better overview choose/click on the "month" tab. The pictures will still be posted here but sometimes it's nicer to be able to view what's happening in a different format.

Hope this is helpful.

Teachers Wanted

We are looking for people to teach classes during the fall and winter. As you know our Winter Texans will start returning in October and we'd like to get a class schedule set up for those months. We've had people asking for beginner classes, garment sewing classes, using sergers and I'm sure there's a number of different projects that would be of interest.

We have a form that outlines our guidelines plus giving us the information to pass on to students. If you have samples we could display them in our classroom and digital pictures could be posted in the blog.

If you have any suggestions please pass them along as we'd love to make this a great season for learning and sharing.

Store Front Pictures

To the left is the store front. Don't worry it is a bit bigger than it looks on the inside but it's still very cosy. The van is covering our window which has the Bernina sign. It's now been moved so the view is cleared. When I get the chance I'll update the picture.

Bargain Bazaar is located north of Nolana along 23rd Street. The quilt store is place behind this building so it's an excellent landmark to look fort. Across from it there is a tire store.

You can either enter via the lights on Primrose (the lights are a stone's throw away from Bargain Bazaar) or you can enter in the drive way for the Bazaar. You may park in front of the store or along the back of the Bazaar--just avoid parking in front of the doors there which have painted cement blocks.

Classes for Bernina Machines Purchased Here

For general help with the Berninas, Ruth is available . Call ahead as sometimes she does have classes. She got back November 14, 2010 from San Antonio where she took Bernina training.

Dianne Parry is the lady to see if you have purchased an embroidery machine through us for the free classes. If you've bought a 630 or 730 you are entitled to 6 hours of training. The 440 comes with 4 hours of training.

The embroidery classes are usually held the first Saturday of each month 10-12. There is a minimum of 2 students, so if you don't sign up it won't be held. If your machine isn't from here the cost of the class is $35. For those of you with free classes, keep in mind that your entitled hours will not be all on one day as the class is scheduled for 2 hours.

Guidelines For Classes

  1. Class fees are due when you register for the class.
  2. Supplies should be purchased at the store.
  3. In case of class cancellation, you should be notified 2 days in advance.
If you are interested in a class but can not make the scheduled time let us know and we will try to schedule a separate class. To facilitate this you might get a few other interested students as there is a minimum number of students needed to have a class.

Thanks!

If you would like to receive notices when we update the blog, subscribe through the link to the left side of the screen. Or else just bookmark the page and check back.

Please do e-mail us your project pictures so we can create an area to show case our talented customers. Remember to include information about the designer, the book or pattern you used and, of course, information about you! One of the things people enjoy the most is having "show and tell."

If you have any suggestions about what we could include here let us know.

We are looking forward to sharing our love of quilting, fabrics, patterns and friends.

Best wishes,
